Angel Investment: Kavach from an idea to a “made-in-Nepal” pride
SAFAL’s collaboration with Himalayan Accessories, creators of Kavach gear, showcases our expertise in fostering entrepreneurial success. This initiative reflects SAFAL’s pioneering approach to supporting SMEs and startups through tailored investments and strategic guidance.
In 2018, SAFAL raised NPR 55 lakh in angel investment, deploying funds across three companies, including Himalayan Accessories. Leveraging our GSM+N model—Governance, System Strengthening, Mentoring, and Networks—we provided targeted support to optimize their operations, strengthen governance, and improve scalability.
Himalayan Accessories aimed to design export-quality motorcycle-riding safety jackets and accessories. With SAFAL’s guidance, they overcame challenges, including navigating the pandemic’s market disruptions, to emerge stronger. By 2024, the company had employed 17 full-time staff, established a robust domestic presence, and garnered significant demand from riding clubs in India.
SAFAL’s leadership extended beyond individual projects, shaping Nepal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. We collaborated with key partners like Antarprerana and Nepal Communitere to design compliant and effective angel investment procedures. Our expertise earned regional recognition, with SAFAL invited to share insights on early-stage investing at the Bangladesh Angels Network.
The Kavach project exemplifies SAFAL’s role as a catalyst for growth, empowering entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses and create economic impact. Himalayan Accessories stands as a testament to the enduring success achievable through strategic support, innovation, and collaboration.
Through initiatives like Kavach, SAFAL continues to lead Nepal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, driving long-term success and scalability for SMEs and startups.
